"When all you have is a hammer..."

"...everything looks like a nail."

That's what came to mind when I stumbled across a "live blog session" with John Cusack on Crooks and Liars.

I'm looking forward to his new movie, War, Inc. so I thought I'd check it out, although I wasn't too sure what exactly "live blog session" meant. Turns out they attempted a chat, using blog comments. I wasn't there when it was "live", but at a minimum, that would have to consist of type...submit....refresh...find where you left off reading and catch up. Rinse and repeat.

Dudes, IRC might be ancient, but it's a good tool for what you were trying to do. And there are plenty of other online chat solutions. You can log chats, y'know, and then post the log for those who missed it. Blog comments have got to be one of the most inefficient, inadequate substitutes for a chat solution.

Just 'cuz you have a blog doesn't mean you can't communicate using other methods as well.

You make an excellent point. I was not there, but I have read the transcript. Those posting seemed to be trying so hard to make contact, and had such difficulty. And then at the end of the chat, JC was actually asking if there were any more questions, and nobody noticed him asking, since they had mostly left or were complaining about how their question had not been addressed. At the same exact time they were complaining about not getting an answer, Cusack was asking for further questions. Ironic, huh?
The movie sounds great. Looking forward to it. Thanks for the description of the way to enter a blog chat.

It really was ironic, and I can only imagine how frustrating it had to have been for everyone involved.
